K-MOMO History
Kenneth Seo, The founder of K-MOMO, took over his family's general merchandise retail business, Momo Gifts, in 1989. He converted it to a clothing and shoe retail business and added his favorite letter K to the name. K-MOMO's sales have increased to $12 million in 2005 from $200,000 in its first year.
In 1990, K-MOMO opened its second store in Glendale, Arizona which was owned by his brother, John Seo. After two years later, Mesa store was opened at East Valley of Great Phoenix. In 1998, K-MOMO's anchor stores, Metro Center Mall and Desert Sky Mall stores, started their service to Hip-hop lovers in Phoenix. With successful expansion to the shopping mall area, the company launched a new store in East Bell road in the year 2000.
For the better merchandise service, K-MOMO has established 4000 square feet warehouse at the center of Phoenix in 2001. At same year, K-MOMO merged two business of Kenneth's and John's as one K-MOMO Incorporation Company in 2001.
The Arizona Republic reported K-MOMO on its newspaper of Feb. 29, 2002 as one of the fast growing retail company in Arizona. End of the year 2002, the company took over the business of All Starz in Arizona Mills Mall and Park Center at West Van Buren beginning to operate total 9 stores in Arizona area. With ambition of statewide in October 2003. K-MOMO established new warehouse system about 50,000 square feet size to meet a growing need in distribution to statewide.
Due to the increased sales of the company, K-MOMO has created a network and communication department in order to centralize the sales, supplies and inventory of the Point-Of-Sale system.
For the new challenge, K-MOMO opened Women's clothing California Girlz at Arizona Mills Mall in 2006. Same year, New stores were opened at Roosevelt, Country Club and Prescott store. Sales have reached to $15millions.
In 2007, K-MOMO opened new store on Thomas Rd., and renovated Flagstaff store. During 2008, K-MOMO launched stores at Fillmore, Indian School, and relocated Glendale store. International Internship Program started on May, and signed on MOU with Inha University for International Internship Program on October.
Recently 2009, Fiesta store and Metro Center store relocated to same mall. To reach variety customers, K-MOMO opened at Chandler Fashion Center Mall on June, and launched online store www.k-momo.com as urban fashion breaks free of all geographic. www.k-momo.com enables us to share our passion for urban fashion with millions of consumers around the states and the world in the near future.
